Suspension rebuild pointers

I had lots of new suspension bits installed in January of 2002. Here is a macro list of what went in:

  • Bilstein Sport struts
  • Eibach Pro-Kit springs
  • Delrin front control arm bushings
  • OEM (rubber) rear control arm bushings
  • Front tie rod ends
  • Front ball joints
  • UrQuattro upper strut bearings all around (the "blue" bearings)

It was a long and arduous process getting all the bits and pieces togethe to do the rebuild. Originally, I had thought that I would be doing this thing myself with the help of Nick Bean and his wonderful assortment of tools (plus a garage). But, time was of the essence (ie. I had none), so into the shop it went.

Below, please find the information that I used to complete this rebuild. There are no part numbers for the springs, struts, and delrins, though. Find them at 20v.org and call your local machine shop.

I had the work done at Redmond European in Redmond, WA. I highly recommend them. The tech (Brandon) that worked on my car was much pleased with the big box of pre-sorted, labeled, and organized hardware for the rebuild.

Parts suppliers were Carlsen Audi for dealer only, and Rod at The Parts Connection for just about everything else. Todd Candey turned the Delrin bushings. He may be interested in turning more for the right people, but funnel requests through me, as he isn't doing this full time anymore.
