Pete Kunzler's turbo quattro

This is Pete Kunzler's 4000cs Turbo quattro. It was featured in European Car magazine March 1998, when it was owned by Duane Hale of California. The car did not start life as the beauty in front of you. A matter of fact this car has done just about everything. It started out a NA stock 4000cs quattro. Duane wanted something more. At the time he was using it as a daily driver and also auto crossing in it. Duane turned the car over to 2Bennett Brother Automotive in Davis California, to have the MC turbo transplant done. While at it Duane added a custom coil over suspension, with Spax adjustable strut inserts and Eibach springs. Braking is handled with the stock rotor size and caliper in the rear. In front a set of Girling G60 dual piston calipers, shod with metal master pads, clamp down hard on the 11 inch diameter drilled rotors. This car stops almost as fast as it starts! The BBS Rx wheels in a 17x7.5 wheels and 205/40-17 tires handle the rolling, with little rubbage. The cars interior looks stock, with the exception of the turbo boost gauge on the right hand side of the dash, also the Momo wheel, and knob combo look fantastic. The Recaro LTX seats look like they were made for this car, and when you go for a ride in it, they feel like they were made for it as well.

This is the 4000 turbo at the start of the Virgina City Hill climb, Now that the car has been handed over to Pete, it will see little other then the occasional track day, but I am sure that it will also attract it's fair share of attention from the local law enforcement. Now the car was not perfect when Pete bought it, and to some it still might not be, but it is a far cry from what it started out as. Pete with the help of Pat Martin, have torn into the car, fixing everything from bad headlight wiring, to a computer Knock warning. It is nice to know that this car is in the North West to stay.

You have to love the Recaro seats and Momo shift knob, steering wheel combo! Below you can see an older picture from Ti Kan's web page, that was taken before the Tresser blacked out Rear lights were added.
