Code Pulling 101
Case 1: Car runs and you get a "check engine light":
Leave engine running. Insert a fuse into the slot for the fuse in the top of the fuel pump relay (inside the fuse box). Leave the fuse in for approximately 4 seconds. Remove the fuse and watch the check engine light. It will flash a sequence for a four digit number. Insert the fuse again for 4 seconds and pull it again. The next code (if any) will flash. Continue until no more codes appear.
Case 2: Car won't start:
Crank the engine for 5 seconds and then leave the ignition switch turned on. Follow the fuse/flash routine from above.
Code Interpretation:
4444 No faults recorded (what good is this one)
0000 end of diagnosis (again no usefulness)
1111 Control unit, (Defective memory circuits in control unit) He's dead Jim
(ECU) is brain dead....(or ECU hackers have the wrong check sum.......)
2111 Speed sensor (control unit not receiving signal) were breaking up help.......
2112 Reference Sensor ( Control unit not receiving signal or dist is mal adjusted)
2113 Hall sendor in distributor (Control unit not receiving signal or signal is
out of phase, mal adjusted distributor) must have been poorly+raised by+his mother....
2221 Vacuum hose to pressure sensor in Control unit (Hose is not connected ....dummy)
2222 Presure sensor in control unit, (defective pressure sensor in control unit)
2141 Knock regulation (engine knock is prolonged to cause timing retard by+7.8 degrees)
2142 Knock sensor (defective wiring or sensor)
2123 Full throttle switch (switch is faulty or bad wiring to switch)
2121 Idle switch is Kaput or wiring is kaput
2312 Engine coolant temperature sensor (Sensor or sensor wiring defective)
2322 Intake air temp sensor (Sensor or sensor wiring defective)
2342 Oxygen sensor (sensor defective or wiring is defective)
4411: Fuel injector cylinder 1. Open circuit or short to ground. Short circuit to positive at harness connector or injector. Fuse S 28 faulty. Symptom: engine runs rough and possibly stalls. Repair: check injectors, repair group 24, or repair open circuit.
4412-5: fuel injector cylinder 2-5 (same as above)
Output tests
4433 fuel pump will run
4441 Oxygen sensor frequency valve (mixture) will run
4442 Waste gate frequency valve will run
4443 Cold start valve will run (and flood your engine at no extra charge)
4343 Carbon canister will run
